I love a good mug. A steaming hot beverage is always a joy but it’s made all the more better when it’s drunk from a nice big mug. One that can hold a lot of the before mentioned beverage but also one that itself, is nice to hold.
Now, not all mugs are created equally and I usually know before I try if it will be a good mug or not. I have these ‘rules’ in my head of what makes a good mug; How’s the size? How does the handle feel? The rim? Does it make me happy?? I tried writing my ‘rules’ below. The higher maximum points the heavier the rule weighs. I’m rating these 6 categories:
The size:
2 Points max
I like to drink hot drinks from a big mug. It means there is a lot of it and it stays warmer for longer. A big mug allows you to wrap your hands around it which makes it cozy af. And we can all use more coziness in our lives right?
The rim:
1 Point max
It must feel nice to drink from and not turn inwards or outwards too much. You probably know what I mean… Square or very oddly shaped rims are an instant no go.
The handle:
2 Points max
I like a wide, easy to hold handle. ‘D’ handles are my fav, the ones that look like an ear are also fine. I’m not keen on fully round, circle shaped handles. Don’t even get me started on the ones where your can’t even fit a finger in 
Dishwasher safe:
1 Point max
Can it go in the dishwasher? Definitely points for that. If it doesn’t, it should at least be easy to clean, no weird corners or hard to reach areas. What about a printed mug? I have plenty of mugs with prints that are now totally faded from the dishwasher so I try to avoid those.
Vibes:
3 Points max
So this categorie can get the most points because even if some of the above ones didn’t get full marks it can still be a great mug just because it has a nice colour or design. Or the other way around; Sure it’s big, sure it has a good handle, but does it have the vibes?

Let’s take a look at this super cute mug!
The size is great, nice and tall, slightly flared at the bottom. The rim is good, just straight, no weird edges. I like the black edge, that’s a nice touch. The handle is fine too, nice and wide, no remarks 👍
The label on the bottom says it’s microwave and dishwasher safe. The pattern is actually baked in with the glaze so that’s great.
The vibes are great! Look how cute those kitties are! Plus the inside is the same colour as some of the cats which I really like. I deducted 1 point because the pattern is not quite perfect in places. It gets a A+ point though because it does make me happy when I drink from this!
So this mug definitely has Big Mug Energy and scores a 9 out of 10.
